Useful Links

If you are an aspiring pilot to be (perhaps not as young as my nephew above!) or, are in training, here are some useful links that should supplement your flying journey. They have helped me.

PPL Blogs

There are a number of fantastic PPL blogs in action today across the world. Here is a small selection of a few that I have read prior to and during my PPL training. If you come across any others, please let me know and I will add them to the list.

  1. GetMyPPL– This content rich blog and site from Neil Bradon depicts his PPL journey in multiple countries having taken a ‘work and life-related flying hiatus between 1999 and 2011. It contains great advice, videos, ATC teasers and lots more…..
  2. FortyFiveHours– This was the first UK PPL blog I encountered and it is quite local to me (Cambridge Airfield). Phill takes readers through the ‘trials and tribulations’ of learning this art with great detail and some fantastically dry humour!…..
  3. Clear Skies– Chris Dixon serves up a healthy dose of flying adventures for all to read. If you like ‘stats’ this blog site will put you in PPL numbers heaven also! Some great stories, videos and content on a particularly polished site I can tell you.

PPL Videos

During my training, I have found a number of excellent PPL videos on Youtube yet, this channel by  EyeFlyBy is the most informative with every single PPL lesson videos with full audio in full.

  1. EYEFLYBY– This contains a full collection of PPL Training Videos at Ardmore airport lesson-by-lesson and some post qualification fun. Although it differs slightly from the UK/EASA training. It also contains full ATC/radio audio…..
  2. CRYPTIKSOULS – This youtube site contains a UK PPL cross country (CXG) flight on edited to depict key moments with ATC from Sywell to Kemble and back. Very, very useful if you are looking for good ‘Communication’ practice.

Other Useful Pilot Sites

If you are training for a PPL, you need all the help you can get with great content especially when it comes to written examinations.

  1. Airquiz online PPL examinations – For a small subscription, this gives you unlimited access to random EASA-PPL examinations online. I achieved great results in my first 3 PPL exams using a combination of this and the PPL Q&A books.
